Are you looking for a VPS hosting in Italy that offers high performance, guaranteed security and an unbeatable quality-price ratio? You’re in the right place. In this complete guide we explain everything you need to know about Virtual Private Servers, how they work, when to choose them and why our Cloud VPS represent the ideal solution for your project.
We have been operating in the hosting sector since 2007 and we manage thousands of VPS for customers all over Italy. Our experience has taught us what really works and what is needed to guarantee performance, security and reliability. In this guide we share this knowledge with you.
What Is a VPS and How It Works
A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a virtual server that simulates a physical dedicated server within a shared infrastructure. Through virtualization technology, a single powerful physical server is divided into several completely independent virtual servers, each with guaranteed resources and total isolation from the others.
Imagine a large building (the physical server) divided into independent apartments (the VPS). Each apartment has its own utilities, keys and private spaces. Even though the building is shared, each tenant (VPS user) has their own reserved space with guaranteed resources and no interference from neighbors.
How Virtualization Works
We use Proxmox VE with KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) technology to create our VPS. This enterprise-grade solution guarantees:
- Complete isolation: Each VPS operates as an independent server with its own Linux kernel
- Guaranteed resources: Assigned CPU, RAM and storage are not shared with other VPS
- Native performance: KVM offers performance almost identical to a dedicated physical server
- Security: Isolation at hypervisor level prevents issues on one VPS from affecting the others
Each of our VPS has access to:
- Dedicated vCPU: Latest generation AMD Epyc processor cores
- Guaranteed RAM: Reserved memory that is never shared or “overallocated”
- NVMe RAID10 storage: Ultra-fast disks in redundant configuration for maximum performance and reliability
- Premium connectivity: Guaranteed bandwidth up to 5 Gbit/s with Tier 1 carriers
VPS vs Shared Hosting vs Dedicated Server: Which to Choose?
To help you understand if a VPS is the right solution for you, let’s compare it with the other options available.
Shared Hosting
Shared hosting is the entry-level solution where hundreds of websites share the same server resources. It is cheap (3–10€/month) but has significant limits:
- Non-guaranteed resources: If other sites on the server consume many resources, your site slows down
- Limited control: You can only use the provided control panel (cPanel, Plesk), with no root access
- Reduced customization: You cannot install custom software or change server configurations
- Shared security: A security issue on one site can potentially affect the others
Ideal for: Showcase sites, personal blogs, projects with a very limited budget and minimal traffic.
VPS (Virtual Private Server)
The VPS offers the best balance between performance, control and cost. You get guaranteed resources and full control at a fraction of the cost of a dedicated server:
- Guaranteed resources: Dedicated CPU, RAM and storage that no one else can use
- Full root access: Total control to install any software and change any configuration
- Total isolation: Stable performance regardless of the other VPS on the same hardware
- Scalability: Possibility to upgrade when needs grow
- Affordable cost: Our VPS start from just 5€/month
Ideal for: High-traffic websites, e-commerce, web applications, development environments, databases, game servers, VoIP PBXs.
Dedicated Server
A dedicated server is a physical server entirely reserved for you. It offers the highest possible performance but at a significantly higher cost:
- Maximum resources: All the power of the physical server is yours
- Physical isolation: No hardware sharing with other users
- Hardware customization: Possibility to configure custom hardware specifications
- High cost: Typically 50–200€/month or more
Ideal for: Mission-critical enterprise applications, workloads that require more than 16 vCPU and 64GB RAM, compliance requirements that demand full physical isolation.
Comparison Table
| Feature | Shared Hosting | Cloud VPS | Dedicated Server |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | 3–10€/month | 5–54€/month | 50–200€/month |
| Resources | Shared, not guaranteed | Guaranteed, dedicated | Maximum, dedicated |
| Performance | Variable, limited | High, stable | Maximum |
| Control | Control panel | Full root | Full root |
| Scalability | Limited | Excellent | Limited (physical hardware) |
| Isolation | Minimal | Full virtual | Full physical |
| Backup | Basic or paid | Automatic included (with us) | Paid or self-managed |
| DDoS Protection | Basic or none | Always-ON included (with us) | Paid or none |
| Activation | Immediate | Immediate | 24–48 hours |
| Ideal for | Blogs, showcase sites | E-commerce, apps, SaaS | Enterprise, maximum loads |
Our recommendation: For most professional projects, a VPS offers the best quality-price ratio. You get excellent performance, full control and scalability at an affordable cost. Only when your needs exceed the largest VPS configuration (16 vCPU, 64GB RAM) does it make sense to consider a dedicated server.
When to Choose a VPS: Ideal Use Cases
A VPS is the ideal solution for a wide range of projects and applications. Here are the most common use cases where a VPS excels:
1. High-Traffic Websites and Portals
If your website receives thousands of visitors per day, shared hosting is no longer enough. A VPS ensures that your site remains fast and responsive even during traffic peaks. With guaranteed resources, you don’t have to worry about other sites slowing yours down.
Recommended configuration: BL2 (4 vCPU, 8GB RAM) for sites up to 50,000 visits/day, BL3 (8 vCPU, 16GB RAM) for higher traffic.
2. E-commerce and Online Stores
E-commerce sites require high performance, maximum security and guaranteed uptime. Every second of downtime or slowness translates into lost sales. A VPS offers the resources needed to handle product catalogs, transactions, integrations with payment gateways and traffic spikes during promotions or seasonal events.
Recommended configuration: BL3 (8 vCPU, 16GB RAM) for small–medium e-commerce, BL4 (12 vCPU, 32GB RAM) for stores with large catalogs and high transaction volume.
3. Web Applications and SaaS
If you develop web applications, SaaS platforms or APIs, you need a fully customizable environment where you can install specific technology stacks, configure optimized databases and manage automated deployments. A VPS gives you the freedom to configure the environment exactly as needed.
Recommended configuration: Varies according to the application. Start with BL2 (4 vCPU, 8GB RAM) and scale based on actual load.
4. Development and Staging Environments
Every professional developer knows that testing in production is risky. A VPS dedicated as a staging environment lets you test changes, updates and new features in an environment identical to production, without risking compromising the live site.
Recommended configuration: BL1 (2 vCPU, 4GB RAM) is enough for most staging environments.
5. Database Hosting and Backend Applications
Separating the database from the web server is a best practice that improves performance, security and scalability. A VPS dedicated to the database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) ensures that queries are fast and that the database does not compete for resources with the web server.
Recommended configuration: BL3 (8 vCPU, 16GB RAM) with emphasis on RAM for caching and query performance.
6. Game Servers and Online Communities
Running a game server (Minecraft, ARK, Counter-Strike, FiveM) requires low latency, stable performance and protection against DDoS attacks. Our VPS with datacenter in Milan offer minimal latency for Italian and European players, and our Always-ON DDoS protection shields you from attacks that frequently hit game servers.
Recommended configuration: Depends on the game. Minecraft vanilla: BL2 (4 vCPU, 8GB RAM). Modded Minecraft or ARK: BL3–BL4 (8–12 vCPU, 16–32GB RAM).
7. VoIP PBXs and Business Communications
If you run a business VoIP PBX (Asterisk, FreePBX, 3CX), you need a reliable server with low latency and specific protection for the SIP protocol. We offer dedicated security filters for VoIP traffic, blocking floods and brute-force attempts on SIP ports, keeping call quality stable even under attack.
Recommended configuration: BL2 (4 vCPU, 8GB RAM) for PBXs up to 50 extensions, BL3 (8 vCPU, 16GB RAM) for larger setups.
How to Choose the Best VPS: Key Criteria
Not all VPS are equal. Here are the key criteria to evaluate when choosing a provider:
1. Guaranteed Resources vs Over-allocation
Some providers practice overallocation: they sell more resources than physically available, betting that not all customers will use them at the same time. This leads to unpredictable and degraded performance at peak times.
We guarantee real resources: When you buy a VPS with 4GB of RAM, you actually have 4GB reserved only for you, always available. We do not oversell.
2. Type of Storage: HDD vs SSD vs NVMe
Storage is often the performance bottleneck. The difference is huge:
- HDD: Slow (100–150 IOPS), obsolete for modern VPS
- SATA SSD: Good (10,000–20,000 IOPS), standard for budget VPS
- NVMe: Excellent (100,000+ IOPS), the professional standard
We use NVMe only in RAID10: Exceptional performance (over 100,000 IOPS) with redundancy to protect your data. Even if a disk fails, the data remains accessible without interruptions.
3. Processors: Generation and Architecture
Not all vCPU are equal. A vCPU based on a 2015 Intel Xeon processor offers much lower performance than a vCPU based on the latest generation AMD Epyc.
We use AMD Epyc processors of the latest generation with Zen 3/Zen 4 architecture, which offer per-core performance 30–50% higher than previous generations, with reduced energy consumption.
4. Connectivity and Bandwidth
The quality of connectivity is crucial. Evaluate:
- Guaranteed bandwidth: We offer from 2 Gbit/s (BL1–BL3) to 5 Gbit/s (BL4–BL5)
- Included traffic: 25–50TB/month, more than enough for most projects
- Tier 1 carriers: We use GTT and Telecom Italia Sparkle for premium connectivity
- Own Autonomous System: AS60798 for full routing control
5. DDoS Protection
DDoS attacks are increasingly common and can take your service offline for hours or days. Many providers:
- Do not offer DDoS protection
- Charge it as an extra (5–20€/month more)
- Limit it in volume or duration
- Activate it only manually during an attack (too late)
Our DDoS protection is Always-ON and included: Proprietary system developed in-house, in operation for over 8 years, with mitigation capacity up to 1.2 Tbps (expandable to 12 Tbps). It automatically protects against Layer 3/4 attacks without manual intervention, with no additional cost and no limits of volume or duration.
6. Automatic Backups
Backups are essential but often overlooked. Many providers:
- Do not offer backups
- Charge them as an extra (3–5€/month more)
- Offer only manual snapshots (which you forget to take)
Our backups are automatic and included: Daily backups with 7-day retention, completely free. You can restore any backup yourself through the control panel.
7. Datacenter Location
The physical location of the server affects latency, regulatory compliance and performance for end users.
Datacenter in Settimo Milanese (MI): Minimal latency for Italian and European users (5–15ms in Italy, 20–40ms in Europe), GDPR compliance guaranteed with data that remains in Italy under Italian jurisdiction, optimal connectivity thanks to Milan’s strategic position as a European hub.
8. Control Panel and Management
Ease of management is important, especially if you are not an expert sysadmin. We offer:
- Intuitive web panel: VPS management, VNC console access, OS reinstall, backup management
- Root SSH access: Full control via command line
- VNC console: Direct server access even if SSH does not work

- Team of expert sysadmins: Professionals with many years of experience
- Support in Italian: No language or time-zone barriers
- Phone availability: +39 0557476507 for blocking emergencies
10. Quality-Price Ratio
The lowest price is not always the best choice. Evaluate what is included:
- Automatic backups (value: 3–5€/month)
- DDoS protection (value: 10–20€/month)
- NVMe RAID10 storage (premium compared to standard SSD)
- 24/7 support (many low-cost providers offer only business-hours support)
Our VPS start from 5€/month with everything included: backups, DDoS protection, NVMe RAID10 storage, 24/7 support. No hidden costs.

Technologies: Proxmox, AMD Epyc, NVMe RAID10
The quality of a VPS depends on the underlying technologies. Here is what we use and why it makes a difference.
Proxmox VE with KVM
Proxmox Virtual Environment is an enterprise open-source virtualization platform based on Debian Linux. We use Proxmox with KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) hypervisor to create our VPS.
Advantages of Proxmox/KVM:
- Full virtualization: Each VPS has its own Linux kernel, ensuring total isolation
- Native performance: KVM offers performance almost identical to a physical server (overhead <5%)
- Enterprise stability: Mature and proven technology, used by thousands of companies worldwide
- Advanced management: Backups, snapshots, live migration, real-time resource monitoring
- Security: Hypervisor-level isolation prevents issues on one VPS from affecting the others
AMD Epyc Processors
We use only AMD Epyc processors of the latest generation (Zen 3 and Zen 4 architecture) for our VPS. These processors offer significant advantages compared to previous generations or Intel competitors:
- Higher per-core performance: +30–50% compared to previous generations
- More cores per socket: Up to 64 cores per processor, allowing us to offer more vCPU per VPS
- Extended L3 cache: Up to 256MB of L3 cache to reduce memory access latency
- Energy efficiency: 30–40% lower consumption at equal performance
- Hardware security: AMD Secure Processor, Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV)
NVMe Storage in RAID10
Storage is often the performance bottleneck. We use only NVMe disks in RAID10 configuration to maximize both performance and reliability.
What is NVMe? NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) is a communication protocol optimized for SSDs that uses the PCIe interface instead of SATA. This removes bottlenecks and allows performance 5–10 times higher than SATA SSD.
What is RAID10? RAID10 combines mirroring (RAID1) and striping (RAID0) to achieve both high performance and redundancy. Data is duplicated across multiple disks: even if a disk fails, the data remains accessible without interruptions and the disk is hot-swapped.
Advantages of NVMe RAID10:
- Exceptional performance: Over 100,000 IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second)
- Minimal latency: <100 microseconds per operation
- Redundancy: Protection against hardware failures without downtime
- Reliability: Hot disk replacement without service interruption
Security and DDoS Protection: How We Protect You
Security is an absolute priority. We implement multiple protection layers to ensure that your data and services are always safe.
Multi-Layer DDoS Protection
We have developed our DDoS protection system in-house, in operation for over 8 years. The system is Always-ON: protection is active 24/7 without needing to activate it manually.
How it works:
- Continuous monitoring: We analyze all incoming traffic in real time
- Automatic detection: Machine-learning algorithms identify attack patterns
- Immediate mitigation: Malicious traffic is filtered automatically in milliseconds
- Legitimate traffic passes: Only clean traffic reaches your VPS
Layer 3/4 protection: We block volumetric attacks (UDP flood, ICMP flood, SYN flood) with capacity up to 1.2 Tbps (expandable to 12 Tbps).
Custom Layer 7 protection: On request, we configure application-layer protection for HTTP/HTTPS attacks, slowloris, HTTP flood.
SIP protection for VoIP: Dedicated filters for the SIP protocol that block floods and brute-force attacks on VoIP ports.
Virtualization Isolation and Security
The KVM hypervisor guarantees complete isolation between VPS:
- Each VPS has its own separate Linux kernel
- It is impossible for one VPS to access the memory or storage of other VPS
- Security issues on one VPS do not affect the others
- Protection against hardware-level side-channel attacks
Firewall and Access Control
You have full control over the security of your VPS:
- Configurable firewall: iptables/nftables to filter incoming/outgoing traffic
- Secure SSH access: Authentication with SSH keys, disabling root password
- Fail2ban pre-installable: Automatic protection against brute-force attacks
- Customizable ports: Change default ports to reduce automatic scans
Backup and Disaster Recovery
Automatic daily backups protect you from:
- Human errors: Accidental deletions, wrong configurations
- Ransomware: Restore to a pre-infection version
- Corruptions: Corrupted databases, damaged filesystem
- Attacks: Restore after compromise
With 7-day retention, you can go back up to a week to recover data or configurations.
GDPR Compliance and Data Sovereignty
Our datacenter is located in Settimo Milanese (MI), Italy. This means:
- GDPR compliance guaranteed: Data under Italian and European jurisdiction

What is a VPS and how does it work?
A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a virtual server that simulates a dedicated physical server within a shared infrastructure. Through KVM virtualization technology, a single powerful physical server is divided into multiple completely independent virtual servers, each with guaranteed resources (CPU, RAM, storage) and total isolation from the others. We use Proxmox VE with AMD Epyc processors and NVMe RAID10 storage to guarantee high performance and reliability. Each VPS has its own operating system, full root access and can be managed independently as if it were a dedicated server, but at a fraction of the cost.
What is the difference between a VPS and shared hosting?
The main difference is in the guaranteed resources and the control. In shared hosting, hundreds of sites share the same non-guaranteed resources and you have limited control (control panel only). With a VPS, you have dedicated and guaranteed resources, full root access to install any software, and total isolation from other users. VPS performance is stable and predictable, while in shared hosting it depends on the load of the other sites. Our VPS plans start from 5€/month, just slightly more than shared hosting but with huge advantages in terms of performance, security and flexibility.
When should I choose a VPS instead of a dedicated server?
Choose a VPS when you need high performance, full control and isolation, but you do not need the maximum resources of a dedicated server. A VPS is ideal for high-traffic websites, e-commerce, SaaS applications, game servers and VoIP PBXs. Choose a dedicated server only when your needs exceed the largest VPS configuration (16 vCPU, 64GB RAM) or when you have compliance requirements that demand full physical isolation. For most projects, a well-configured VPS offers more than enough performance at a cost 3–5 times lower than a dedicated server.
What does it mean that backup is included?
All our Cloud VPS include automatic daily backups with 7-day retention, completely free. This means that every night a complete copy of your VPS is automatically created, and we keep the last 7 backups on separate storage. If you need to restore the server due to errors, corruption or attacks, you can do it yourself through the control panel by choosing which of the 7 backups to restore. Many competitors charge for backups as an extra (often 3–5€/month more), we always include them with no hidden costs. This protects you from human errors, ransomware, corruption and cyberattacks.
Is DDoS protection really included?
Yes, all our VPS include Always-ON DDoS protection at no extra cost. We have developed our protection system in-house, in operation for over 8 years, with mitigation capacity up to 1.2 Tbps (expandable to 12 Tbps). Protection is always active (Always-ON), you do not have to activate it manually during an attack. We protect against Layer 3/4 attacks (UDP flood, SYN flood, ICMP flood) and offer custom Layer 7 protection on request for HTTP/HTTPS attacks. Many competitors charge DDoS protection as an extra (10–20€/month) or limit it in volume/duration; we always include it without limits and without additional costs.
Can I install any operating system?
Yes, we offer maximum flexibility. In addition to the most common preconfigured operating systems (AlmaLinux, CentOS Stream, Debian, Fedora, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu), we can install any ISO provided by the customer. If you need a specific Linux distribution, a particular version or a less common operating system, just provide us with the ISO and we will install it for you. You also have the option to reinstall the operating system at any time through the control panel, choosing from the available distributions. We also offer Windows Server 2019 and 2022 with Microsoft SPLA licensing.
How long does it take to activate a VPS?
Activation is immediate after payment. You receive the access credentials via email within a few minutes and you can immediately start configuring your server. There are no waiting times or manual procedures: the automated system provisions the VPS, installs the chosen operating system and automatically sends you the credentials. You can access via SSH or through the VNC console in the control panel and start working on your project right away. There are no setup fees or hidden activation costs.
Can I upgrade the VPS when I need to?
Absolutely yes. You can upgrade to a higher configuration at any time. The operation requires a short reboot (a few minutes) but keeps all data and configurations intact. For example, if you start with BL1 (2 vCPU, 4GB RAM) and your project grows, you can move to BL2 (4 vCPU, 8GB RAM) or higher configurations. You can also implement horizontal scaling by adding additional VPS to distribute the load (load balancing, separate database, microservices). Contact us to manage the upgrade: we guide you through the process to ensure a smooth transition. You only pay the proportional price difference.
What kind of technical support do you offer?
We offer 24/7 technical support via ticket, email and phone. For non-urgent issues, open a ticket through the client area and you will receive a reply within a few hours from our team of expert sysadmins. For blocking emergencies (server offline, critical issues), we are available 24/7 by phone at +39 0557476507. Our support covers connectivity issues, hardware, basic configurations and troubleshooting. For advanced configurations or custom development, we offer dedicated consulting services and optional managed hosting. We have been operating since 2007 with a team of professionals with many years of experience in the hosting sector.
Are my data safe in case of hardware failure?
Yes, we implement multiple layers of protection against hardware failures. We use NVMe storage in RAID10 configuration, which duplicates data across multiple disks: even if a disk fails, your data remains accessible without interruptions and the disk is hot-swapped. In addition, the automatic daily backups with 7-day retention protect you against any data-loss scenario. The datacenter has dual power supply with UPS and generators, redundant switches and multiple carriers to eliminate single points of failure. The combination of these measures guarantees reliability and business continuity.
Why should I choose an Italian provider instead of big international clouds?
Choosing an Italian provider like us offers significant advantages: minimal latency for Italian and European users (datacenter in Milan with 5–15ms in Italy), guaranteed GDPR compliance with data that remain in Italy under Italian jurisdiction, support in Italian from technicians who speak your language, simplified Italian invoicing, and a superior quality-price ratio. Big international clouds are great for global enterprise projects, but for SMEs, e-commerce and Italian projects, a local provider offers more personalized service, more transparent costs and no surprises on the invoice. In addition, we have been operating since 2007 with thousands of satisfied customers: we are a reliable long-term partner.
Is a VPS suitable for e-commerce?
Yes, our VPS are ideal for e-commerce with WooCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop or custom platforms. Performance is guaranteed by high-frequency AMD Epyc processors, fast NVMe storage for MySQL/MariaDB databases, reliable DDR4 RAM and included DDoS protection (crucial for e-commerce exposed to attacks). Recommended plan: BL2 (4 vCPU, 8GB RAM) for small–medium e-commerce, BL3 (8 vCPU, 16GB RAM) for stores with large catalogs and high transaction volume, BL4 (12 vCPU, 32GB RAM) for high-traffic e-commerce. It includes free automatic backups to protect transaction data and support PCI-DSS compliance.
Where is the datacenter located?
Our datacenter is located in Settimo Milanese, in the metropolitan area of Milan. This strategic location guarantees minimal latency (5–15ms) to Italian users, <30ms to Western Europe, optimal connectivity via MiX (Milan Internet eXchange) with direct peering to major Italian ISPs, GDPR compliance with data stored exclusively on Italian and European territory, and redundant infrastructure with dual power supply, redundant uplinks, emergency generators and 24/7 physical security. The datacenter is certified ISO 27001, ISO 9001 and Tier III.
Do you offer assistance for migration from another provider?
Yes, we offer free migration assistance from other providers. For complex migrations or if you have no experience, our team of expert sysadmins takes care of: analysis of the current configuration and migration planning, provisioning of the new VPS with optimal configuration, data transfer (files, databases, configurations), testing to verify that everything works correctly, guided DNS switch to point to the new server, and post-migration support for any issues. Contact us to request migration assistance: we will provide you with a detailed plan. For standard migrations, the service is often free.
Can I use the VPS for a VoIP PBX?
Yes, our VPS are perfect for VoIP PBXs (Asterisk, FreePBX, 3CX).
